3 different kaleidoscopes

The strongest area in my kaleidoscope is the 1st kaleidoscope I made just because of the details and the textures of everything, it looked really smooth and nice. I think that the symmetry could be improved a little bit in the last image because I left many gaps.  This could be improved by not leaving as much gaps as I did. I like the 1st one because it is unique. I didn’t expect it to look like that but I was rotating the photos and I started liking them

I used a lot of different tools to create these images. I used the lasso polygon tool to cut the image, and the move tool to be able to rotate the pictures. I used the create a new layer tool many times in order to achieve making new layers without having to repeat the same steps over and over. I also used the ruler tool. I used the lasso polygon tool to cut my original square image into a triangle and to get rid of the other half of it. I used the move image tool to, of course, move the images where I wanted to but I also used it to rotate the photo in order to create the kaleidoscope. The copy layer tool came in handy a lot. It made making the kaleidoscope a little bit easier. When I used the ruler tool it helped me create a more symmetrical image.

The easiest part of this assignment was thinking of something to create and the hardest part was actually creating it. I had a lot of trouble getting my ideas out through the pictures I created. I tried creating different kaleidoscopes many times but I wasn't happy with the outcome which caused me to become a little behind on my work. In the end I got 3 kaleidoscopes done that people liked, but if I could do this assignment again I would try to do more intricate patterns. I would rate myself a 9 out of 10. This is because I definitely could have improved some of my skills especially where I had gaps.

  1. The type of visual I identified was a kaleidoscope. From the three images you can see it’s a biaxial symmetry because if I was to cut the image in half, horizontal or vertically it would be exactly the same. The three images all kind of look alike if you take a real good look. It all started with a picture of the sun rising with a lot of different shades. It looks like the artists Alisha used filter gallery to change the color of her image, also you can see that she kept on sending the images to the back ground and moving them around. When she made her first image she made lots of copies with lots of different colors. The strongest art work she made was the third because it brings the viewer’s eye everywhere instead right in the middle. The image that can be improved is the second one because the value and color is very dull and the middle section needs to be worked on a little more, she put the image right in the middle not avoiding bulls eye

This kaleidoscope is marvelous. It is clear that this is a biaxial symmetry as it has axes of symmetry. It is pretty difficult to identify what the original photo is. The colors are very attractive and make the piece stand out. The third piece looks as though only rectangular marquee tool was used as only square or rectangular shapes are visible. The first two, though, appear to use both the rectangular and elliptical marquee tool, giving the photos a creative and different look. Out of all three, I believe the first one is best because your eye gets drawn to it due to the color and multiple shapes. The pieces can be improved by using different types of tools.

  3. Effort: 4
Composition/Symmetry: 3.5 (some things in Image 1 are different sizes)
    Submission of All work: 4
Craftsmanship: 3 (some gaps in image 3)
    Artist Reflection: 0(missing)
    14.5/20= 80%
GREAT DESIGNS AND COLOR! Be careful of your craftsmanship. You want to have no gaps. Use your rule guides to make sure things are the same size. DO YOUR ARTIST REFLECTION TO RAISE GRADE.
